I think the majority on here are not against this or any other development in principle. I think many of us have been the beneficiaries of past greenfield development (and indeed may have lost out) and take a pragmatic view towards Cardiff growing as a city. I certainly agree that a strong Cardiff well connected to it's hinterland is the best chance for south east Wales and possibly further afield to shake off the current economic malaise.
That's why I'm so frustrated with the transport proposals for Plasdwr as they give ammunition to those who oppose the development for other reasons. It's a bit of an own goal. I'm not expecting Redrow to push forward the Cardiff Metro scheme on their own but I'm assuming that Plasdwr has had a gestation period of many years and at the end of it this is the best they can come with? It's manna from heaven for NIMBY's, an absolute gift.
Everyone knew this scheme would be controversial and that transport provision would be the acid test.
