It's sad to see Jack & Jones/Vero Moda shutting up shop soon! A nice unit in a good location - they haven't done bad business there either... I think that unit will be re-let very easily! Good but of footfall in that area.

It's nice to see that only 10 units are currently available - If all the units that are in solicitors hands and negotiation open, St. David's will be at an all time letting high

Lets see how long it will take for those retailers to sign contracts and open though :|

It's interesting to see the units which are currently "in negotiation" at the moment! A lot of them are on the Debenhams side of the Upper Grand Arcade... Which is brilliant news in my opinion - It's not looking good visually at that side of the centre right now

I've had a think about who could occupy some of the units currently in negotiation and here's my ideas! Anyone else had any thoughts about who could go where?

UG11/12 - Pull & Bear
UG46/47 - Victoria's Secret
UG49 - Jacamo / Simply Be
UG03 - Lush Spa
LG35 - Timberland
LG11/12 - Joy Clothing
LG85 - Michael Kors (This is the old Leia unit on the Hayes)

Just my thoughts...

On another note MSU03 the unit which has been in and out of solicitors hands since day 1 is currently "in negotiation" - Does anyone have the slightest idea of who could be looking at that unit? It's a big unit!

With regards to Sports Direct closing down surely this has to be good news! On a related note I see that DW Sports are moving into the top of the old QueensWest building above Queens Street. Aren't Sports Direct and DW Sports the same company?

Are you sure?
Their shops always have a look of "closing down sale" about them, I seem to remember the one that was opposite the old Virgin Megastore (named Sports Soccer) literally had the words "closing down sale" tip-exed on the outside windows for the best part of two years!

I don't see how it's good news at all. Yes the shops are always untidy and a 'better' shop there would be good, but people work there so it's potentially jobs lost and it clsoing down would just leave yet another empty unit, and a big unit at that.

Its a slightly unusual time for them to be closing - I would have thought they'd signed a 10 yr deal, and they were there when it opened, so are now about 5 1/2 years in. They may have had a 5 year break clause, but it seems a bit late for that...

If they are closing down or moving (and it could just be a rumour). it may be because St Davids have found others willing to take the unit and pay more rent. If this were the case I could imagine it would involve splitting the unit. The mall facing part would remain retail, but a new unit facing Hill Street would be A3. Demand for A3 space in St Davids continues to outstrip supply of space (many of the internal mall units just aren't suited to A3).

Is it the sports direct unit for which planning permission has recently been applied to expand into the basement - essentially doubling the useable space for retail? If so, perhaps there is another specific tenant interested.

It would certainly improve Hills Street to have some street facing units with some outside seating too. It's all a bit wind swept along there at present.

This went through my mind as well - It could just be false marketing, but nevertheless all the windows are plastered with closing down posters! Only time will tell I guess.

& yes Century Falcon, this is the unit that applied for a basement extension last month! All a bit bizarre

Perhaps Sports Direct have to temporarily move out to facilitate the extension...
