Proposals for the building above the Sainsburys at the eastern end of Queen Street (opposite the Capitol) to be turned into a hotel. Not a bad idea really, Cardiff is crying out for more hotel rooms

I rather like this. Design and materials look sympathetic to the original facade wile avoiding pastiche. The setbacks help with this and also provide outdoor space in the upper floors. Look forward to visiting the rooftop bar - I'm a sucker for a bar or restaurant with a view and Cardiff is crying out for decent one.

Agreed that it looks good with a bigger scale and great to have more hotel space, hopefully it'll be a nice quality brand. I'm not sure that Sainsbury's will be willing to get rid of their signage as in the CGI mind
