Yeah i agree, greenbank do not have the financial clout behind them to complete the entire scheme themselves (or not within a reasonable time frame at least).

I would imagine they are looking to offload the entire project (ice rink/ski/retail/homes) in one and walk away with a fair few £million themselves. Breaking it up by selling the ice rink to one seller, means they either have a long hard road ahead of them development wise, or they need to try and sell partial bits of the project off.

I assume the best chance of completion (within a decade) will be for the entire scheme to be passed over to someone with a few hundred million in accessible cash, rather than it all being reliant on the house sales.

Yeah it does look a bit cheap but it's a whole load better than the blue tent I suppose.

Is there not going to be another layer on top? Like a transparent/glass-like cladding or something? The plans clearly showed that the building was supposed to have a shiny sort of effect, and in its current state it does look like something is supposed to go over the top. I just can't believe this is the final outcome based on the striking images that were shown before...

I was thinking the exact same thing, there looks like there may be depressions in the plasticy material that hold the shiny stuff, but i thought i was holding out too much hope.

I wouldn't get too hopeful. I can't remember the last time that something was built in Cardiff that actually looked like the renders in it's plans. They design something to make the planners happy and then build something a lot cheaper which looks completely different. I don't know how they get away with it. One example is 1 Capital Quater.

The rumours that Greenbank may be in trouble seem to be getting stronger. I've heard them from quite a few different people by now.

With the Devils offering to buy the rink I've no doubt that it will be completed. As far as the rest of the scheme goes I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Celestia, altolusso

I don't think the rink looks too bad and when put into context with the surrounding buildings it will look fine. The building isn't finished and there is the landscaping to do which will enhance the final appearance.

As for greenbank I have no idea. However I do know the 10 or so 4 storey houses facing penarth have had no work done on them now for 6 months maybe longer. The number of units that have been completed is rising but the units sold isn't rising anywhere near as quickly.

It looks very like the CGI and as said, with some finishing off and landscaping will be ok.
