Any views from the mob?

Once again they are acting as though the closure of the bus station will affect all bus users, it will not! When over the last few years have they complained about my 57 & 58 route not starting and finishing at the bus station? Never! Why are the routes that are currently at the bus station so special compared to mine? If it stays open or closes it will make no difference to many bus users, and i am sure the ones who currently use the bus station will manage just like everyone else who currently don't have that option.

Since the bus station was downgraded a few years back, it has become more of an irrelevance to many users. But for people who do need to transfer to another bus, or a coach, or a train, the bus station is still very important.

Likewise, for visitors to south Wales who arrive by train and need an onward connection, having a fully-functioning bus station is very important.

For all the posters who are saying that the closure of the bus station won't affect them much - I agree with you! It won't affect my travel on public transport at all, because I never use it.

But it will affect other people, who aren't YOU.

If a tourist say from Edinburgh wanted to visit Pentwyn and decided to travel via train and bus, they could not catch a bus right now from the bus station, they would need to walk to Customhouse Street. That would be exactly the same if the bus station closed or remained open. This is a tourist, not me, why is this route for them less important than others which currently start at the bus station? If somebody in Pentwyn decided to catch a bus to Ely they can not currently change at the bus station, why are people in Pentwyn less important than the people who are currently able to change at the bus station?

My point, and that of people campaigning for a better bus station, is that people should be able to catch a bus to anywhere in Cardiff from the bus station. At the minute it is possible to travel to some locations from the bus station.

In a few weeks that figure will be zero, for at least the next three years. Just because the bus station has been downgraded, it doesn't follow that it is now a useless facilty and that it should be scrapped.

The logical thing to do would be to enlarge the bus station so that it can serve more routes and operate as part of a fantastic transport interchange.

I really don't understand why some forum members can't grasp this simple proposition.

I think Shminky is saying why were the howls of protest in support of his bus numbers being moved?

That is a fair point and i understand what you are saying, but the people in that article did not care before, they only seem to care about the current users of the bus station. They would be happy if it stayed as it was or retained the same bus routes after modernisation. I think it is more of an ego trip and publicity for them than anything else.

Interesting move by Rightacres, putting a building up for sale even before it's been signed off by the BBC big wigs

Pensions and insurers will be all over it. Good steady rental income each month to offset that longevity hedge

Dead right. Roath Lock went in the blink of an eye - to the NCB pension fund if I remember correctly.
