Shake Shack should work well in that location, I quite liked their Mall of the Emirates outlet in Dubai.

I would absolutely love Burger Fuel to come to the city though, decent Kiwi company that we had in a few locations in Dubai. I used to spend far too much time in one or two of their outlets !

It looks as though Jack Jones is moving into the unit next to USC on the upper floor of SD2. The unit they currently occupy is to converted into 2 smaller retail units facing the main arcade and one further restaurant unit facing Eastside. This mirrors what is happening on the upper floor where that corner unit is being converted into A3 for occupation by Shake Shack.

I think it makes sense. It has looked for a little while that SD2 is struggling for retailers but is very popular with eateries.

I think this is a brilliant new configuration! The good thing about St Davids is, they're adapting to meet the demand. I should imagine theres a tenant already lined up for the restaurant unit... Plus, I'm really pleased that Jack & Jones are relocating rather than exiting! It will be good to see one of those vacant units occupied.

I think two small retail units in the Grand Arcade will be much more useable and easier to let! There aren't any units available of this size left, so these could have a lot of interest!

Yankee Candle and EuroChange have opened their units on Cathedral walk - Cathedral walk is nearly 100% let now ;)

& Does anyone have any idea where Michael Kors or Smiggle could be opening within the centre?

There are hoardings up in front of the big unit between New Look and Mothercare, anybody know anything?

No idea what it is but it's good news for St. David's as that unit has never been occupied save some seasonal Calendar Club stalls and a Hayes apartments office. It's a huge unit as well so would have to be something pretty major.

Haven't seen anything on the planning apps yet but it was in negotiation on the last letting plans.

I'm not sure if it's related, but there have been very strong whispers about Hamleys closing, H&M relocating there and knocking through to the unit directly above, making a much bigger store than their current one (and possibly putting the Capitol's H&M in jeopardy?)

I've worked with an ex Hamleys employee and he told me that the store is doing really bad business and the company seriously want out! I wouldn't be surprised if they closed soon...

However I don't think H&M would relocate because they'd lose the Hayes frontage

But they would gain a considerably larger store (the Capitol unit is larger than the present St Davids unit and has more lines) and also an entrance on both floors of St Davids. Perhaps that is more appealing than having the Hayes entrance?

I've heard whispers about Zara occupying that unit but I don't see a lot of truth behind that rumour. Their Queen Street store isn't available to let at this moment in time, and they certainly wouldn't open an additional store!

I could imagine Topshop|Topman opening an additional Cardiff store in St. Davids mind. Certainly don't see that happening...

I walked past that unit between Mothercare and New Look yesterday - nothing on it indicates that anyone has taken it on. I think the jolly hoarding is there to disguise the fact that it's empty.

DV8 on the opposite balcony has closed. I don't think I ever went in there but it struck me as being quite a big unit.

Shame about possibly losing a big brand like Hamleys. Another shop I never went into, and I'm not a retail expert, but it always struck me that it was the wrong shape - long and thin, with a relatively small shop window.
