LG11/12 are definitely two units for two tenants. I'm guessing the one right on the 'crossroads' will be another jeweller.. not sure about the other.

The units which really worry me are the two MSUs upstairs next to JL. One has been empty since opening. And the other empty like 18 months since Gilly Hicks closed. Might think another recently mentioned Lingerie store might take one of those?

I think you're right about the old Jack & Jones unit! Intu wouldn't go through all the planning hassle of splitting it, if they didn't have two retailers interested! It will be interesting to see who occupies those...

As for the MSU's by John Lewis, I think the footfall is too low in that area to attract the right tenants! I think Victoria's Secret would prefer a unit closer to Debenhams where there is a lot more activity. Who know's, they could be lined up for the DV8 unit or the H&M unit. The DV8 unit is a fairly big store and is around the same size as the regional VS stores... VS have announced another UK opening today, so Cardiff must be on their radar (especially after the success of Gilly Hicks).

Can anybody shed some light on Michael Kors? They advertised jobs for a Cardiff concept store earlier this year but I have seen no developments since... Where could they be eyeing up?

It could be a concession store inside Debs or JL..

I'm sure that's the fullest I've seen SD since the extension opened 6 years ago. There are only 6 units available and not in negotiation/solicitors hands.

The issue is currently the John Lewis end on the first floor where there are 2 MSUs and another unit available. Gilly Hicks traded very well there so I'm not sure what the problem is.

I'm surprised that there haven't been some pop ups to liven up that end, could be a good gauge for new retailers thinking of coming to Cardiff.

I think you're right, Simon. SD2 is definitely starting to pick up some lost momentum. A couple of big names like Victoria's Secret - who could set up shop literally anywhere in Cardiff and make money - would really help the John Lewis side.

Also, USC have removed their closing down signs and have added new lines. Surely this means they're staying put too? This is good news to me. I never saw any women shopping there but it was a good place for men's clothes. Decent brands at good prices, and it's a large unit that would be very noticeable should it be emptied.

Soho Coffee are moving from the unit on Town Wall North (near Queens Arcade) to the old Bijou Brigette unit on Town Wall South. I guess as a slightly larger unit, with higher footfall past it, its a better option for them.

According to a friend of a friend who worked at Austin Reed, they are looking at the centre as a potential venue. I thought they were on the way out so who knows?

Their Capitol store has been closing down for yonks, maybe they can't reassign the lease? I can't imagine them turning over enough to pay the rent in the Grand Arcade though, maybe a smaller unit in SD1.

They finally just closed their discount outlet in Mermaid Quay, which I thought would never happen, it's had the Closing Soon signs up so long.
