That would be some office space required. Aren't L and G moving a load of back office jobs from their Surrey operation to cardiff?

I've heard this week from a very reliable source that they have signed for Number 2 Central Square but will continue to expand in to Brunel House until the building is complete. I hope this turns out to be true but not sure what the future would hold for some of the older buildings like Brunel House as they currently occupy around half of the building.

That's interesting. As you say that amount of space Brunel House would be very hard to let. It's always struck me that the fact the building is so narrow is probably a drawback for modern office usage but would probably make it highly suitable for conversion into a hotel, appartments or even, horror of horrors, student accomodation.

If this does happen it would be brilliant news for the scheme, and with two pre-lets it'll allow Rightacres to maybe cash in on the office as they intend to with the BBC plot and plough money into the next phases. It would be good to hear about more tenants at Number 1 as well.

I have concerns about Brunel House as others do above, but also for that general end of town after L&G vacate. Capital Tower is getting new tentants bit by bit after Admiral vacated so hopefully the same would happen to Brunel House. It's a decent location as well, right next to one of the main railway stations.

Must have been a shortage of JCBs in the city. Can't think of any other reason that they would wait exactly 2 months before starting this.

There was some nonsense about 'removing the electrical equipment' first given as an excuse.

Doesn't seem nonsense to me. Seems reasonable. As does the August being a quieter month.

Yeah perhaps these bits could have been done more quickly with additional staff - but thats more up front cost, which is always a risk. Having multiple people onsite working around each other also adds to total costs quite often, by reducing productivity.

Definitely read some minutes from a council meeting a few weeks back which stated that the electricity to the site would be terminated at the end of September to allow the bus shelters to be demolished in early October and then the site would be excavated to divert existing telecoms and other utilities. So by the sounds of it they're on target with the preliminary work.

Work on No.2 Central Square will start alongside the BBC HQ on December 7th. Looks like it's full steam ahead now. Hopefully we get some images of what the tower will look like soon.

I really like Number 1, I hope Number 2 is going to be of similar quality.
