Proposal for a small office development on Trade St - replacing what looks like a garage/work-shop. It only sums to around 3,700 square feet, so very small beer. Probably being developed for a specific occupier - maybe even owner-occupier.

http://planning.cardiff.gov.uk/online-a ... APR_114585

Design is simple, but looks quite nice. Glass and redbrick. Be nice to see this area home to a bunch of small offices and workshops... and not some hideous student cell-block H (or X).

Only other proposal (slightly) of note is also in Butetown - @ Waterfront 2000. That little low rise office park just off Tyndall Street.

http://planning.cardiff.gov.uk/online-a ... APR_114536

A 2 storey building with around 800 square feet of office accomodation, and 800 square feet of cafe use on ground floor.
This is the second proposal for the area - wasn't there a modest office development also planned?
Looks like the owners want to capitalise on the Enterprise Zone designation, and the nearby Capital Quarter. Trying to appeal to occupiers who want low-cost modern space in a reasonably central destination.

Terra Nova down in the bay closed last night.

Opening again in the spring after Brains Gastro pub re-vamp!
Called in on Friday night and they had no larger left

What an incredible time of year to close one of the most enviable pub positions in Cardiff Bay!
Have Brains HQ lost their brains?

That does seem very strange in terms of timing.

I can see why they want to revamp it though. The Mountstuart has hit it quite badly. I worry about the prospects for The Packet as well - it's the closest thing left to a traditional docks boozer and it seems to be dead most of the time.

Does any one know if Jolyons (the bay one) has shut permenantly or is that undergoing a revamp as well?

Looks like the Ely Bridge development has finally started:

Judging by the render, instead of the modern, energy efficient eco-homes we were promised we're actually getting more cookie-cutter, mock-Georgian rabbit hutches. And to think we waited years for them to come up with this shit.

"Civil engineering works will take 16 months."

So what on earth have they been doing there for the past three years? Pushing mud around?

Mind you it's time something, anything was done with that site. Adjoining properties have suffered terrible problems with dust and a displaced rat population for a couple of years now. Not nice - especially since one of the effected properties is a primary school.

They do not look too bad IMHO, if the artist impressions can be believed.
Better than the "shit" that Lyndon refers to them as, surprising as some council housing can be very pokey too!

If you want to look at where a developer decided that having any greenery is bad idea, look at this development in "leafy" Penarth.

God, that is horrid. I really don't understand where the demand comes from for big properties that virtualy fill an entire plot. I mean, if you need a family property - don't you want a garden for the kids to play in?

Caterham park I believe it's called. It's a real any town suburb with no discerning character at all
