I know nothing is official until the brand announces it themselves, but it's not an unrealistic heads up... On the note of Laura Ashley, I cant imagine them occupying a unit of that size? Maybe one of the non MSU Upper Ground units though?

In other news, Shake Shack looks great from what can be seen right now. We have an opening date - 22.12.15!

I think this is something quite exciting for the centre...

"Exciting" seriously? Burger chain moves into a unit previously occupied by a different burger bar.

I get that it's normal corporate speak to use the word "exciting" inappropriately, but we surely don't have to ape it. Of all things happening this surely has to be the very least exciting. I'm completely indifferent about the prospect.

Which burger restaurant was there before? Thought it was a clothes shop.

It was G-Star Raw before, not a restaurant. And actually, Shake Shack only has one other UK restaurant, in London. So it's exciting in the sense that Cardiff is very much becoming a "Where to go next" city.

Exciting in the sense that this is the first Shake Shack outside of London and only their third UK venture. I stand my my choice of words...

& This unit was previously occupied my G Star.

Ok I thought it was replacing the one opposite Café Rouge apologies. Makes no difference though whether or not it's the only other one in the UK realistically. A burger chain is hardly "exciting"(!). It's not like I'm ever likely to go there.

And yeah, even if Cardiff really was renowned as the other place outside London, and I think we know that there are so many other cities with a higher claim to that accolade, "exciting" isn't really the right word surely when it comes to a burger chain.

In that case, I dread to think what word you would use when something actually exciting happens. John Lewis's arrival, for example, must have had you running out of hyperbole. Did you pass out and need oxygen?

I'm sorry, I sound like such a sour puss. It's just the corporate misuse of adjectives like "exciting" and "luxury" and various other terms of hyperbole are a pet hate of mine. I saw a bluetooth mobile phone headset with "luxury headset" in its title. "Luxury" and blue tooth headset? Is that possible? What next, luxury pile cream?

People in London and New York will queue for an hour to get into Shake Shack so it's a pretty big deal for Cardiff I think.

I think both sides are right here.

It is a little bit of a coup for Cardiff - reflecting the very very strong performance of chain restaurants in the city. The flip side is that, as in retail, our independents suffer from this preference for chains. Cardiff's arcades get by but don't thrive. As do many of our independent restaurants.

But also.. those who queue up for ages for a burger from Five Guys or Shake Shack... idiots! The other day Byron burger were doing burgers for £1 for some "birthday" celebration. Good deal. But not worth the 100m long queues and 1 hour waits at lunchtime on a workday!

Leia has closed down on the Hayes. Units on the Hayes seem to be in high demand, so I should imagine this'll be easy to relet.

There were SoHo Coffee Co. employees wandering around the unit next to Footasylum today - Maybe this is a sign that they're eventually moving?

There's a lot of work currently taking place in the old H&M unit. Unit has been gutted and stripped back. A lot of movement in there today... Maybe there is some truth behind the Victoria Secret rumour?
