The tube is in pieces just at the start of the barrage, you can see the steel beams on google earth just near the entrance to the docks. Sucha shame as it would make a nice cafe on the barrage and is an interesting building that links the bay development and a great visitor center (better than the little space in the Millennium center).

Yep, and in that same Google Earth shot, you can see the temporary footbridge that used to cross the old entrance to the Roath Basin prior to the swan bridge.
Said footbridge has now been repurposed as the crossing over the old Bute Dry Dock entrance, right by the GloWorks building.

I did see the steel beams of the tube from the footpath a few months ago, i dont think they would have moved it without a purpose.

They had to move it for the new bridge over to Porth Teirgr, apparently. It could actually still fit there - it seems it was in the way of construction though.

I thought I saw plans for it to reappear on the barrage as a cafe and information centre. But I guess its just not cost effective.

I'd make it an S106 for the developments at Porth Teigr. The developer, Igloo, has benefited from quite a hefty public sector subsidy in the terms of infrastructure work and initial clean-up. Its time they repay the favour!

Speaking of which - any news on the housing development they submitted plans for? Just opposite Adventurer's Quay - a mix of townhouses and low-ish rise apartments.

It's another thing that's gone quiet. The redevelopment of Roath Basin was sold as being more than the drama studios.
