And looking at Centreplan 70 - it seems to suggest that the Valleylines would be no more. There is a "Bus Station" where Queen St station is, and no mention of the train station. Was the plan for some sort of segregated bus way on the lines of the old railway tracks?
In some sense such a system would have been more flexible than the Valleys line services we have. It would be easier to install exta capacity, and easier to extend services to areas off the current network - they could use regular roads to get up the Rhondda Fach, or Sirhowy, say.
What are the drawbacks of such busways? I guess capacity of individual vehicles, although you make up for that by increasing frequency (although that means extra drivers of course). Is it the capacity of stations? That they cannot handle the more frequent services required to match passenger capacity?
