Capitol was discussed pretty heavily on the old forum - its going to be more of a service/local centre than anything in the future - your gym, your Tesco, coffee shops, card shops, chemist. These and H and M are probably used by those on the way out of town or those who live near to town but don't want to dive in - students at Senghenydd Court/Cathays maybe, commuters on the way home, office workers at lunch time.

It's no bad thing. But it is a horrible building generally.

Calders was never going to last, although a shame. And lets be honest it was - and is- scruffy.

With regard to the dock feeder - there's so much scope to re-open a part of the canal in between the bottom of St Mary's Street under the bridge to Callaghan Square...

The H&M in Capitol is far superior to the one in St David's. It's a lot better set out, particularly the men's section.

The Perfume Shop have closed their store on the Upper Grand Arcade! Not a great loss for St Davids as 3 stores in one centre was simply too many, however thats another vacant space upstairs :|

So the other day I took shelter from the rain in one of the side doorways of McDonald's on Queen St. There is a poster on the wall naming all of the McDonald's in Cardiff. Reading through the list with my friend we were puzzled to see one listed for the Capitol centre! Is this a glaring error or a sign (excuse the pun) of things to come?

Could that be the one in the Capital Retail Park? (The one next to the Cardiff City stadium)

Earlier this year I emailed Five Guys Burgers & Fries asking them whether they will be opening a restaurant in Cardiff. At the time they told me that lots of new locations were in the pipeline and that my request for a Cardiff restaurant had been noted.

This morning (a whole three months later) I had an email from Five Guys saying that they had secured a location in Cardiff for a Five Guys restaurant and that the Cardiff Five Guys will open at the end of this year.

Good news for the city! Any thoughts as to where Five Guys will be located?

Are there to be restaurant units in the ground floor of Admiral? Perhaps that could be the location? Or there is some activity just opposite at the former Chinese buffet under Cineworld.

What about next to Miller and Carter on the Hayes?

I was in town yesterday, it was pretty packed, last weekend of the school holidays I presume but even so, the centre was looking pretty ok. Heard a rumour that Lush wanted to go into the Nic and Ollie store, imagine the aroma walking down that bit, what with that Provence place and Crabtree and Evelyn.
