Yeah, the two towers side-by-side do complement each other. John Street tower appears to lessen the impact of Hope Street tower on the rest of the city. I wonder if a certain poster could shed a little more light on the Hope Street situation... :D

Is there still the idea for 17 storey apartment block next to this one? Think that would be positive.

They've been doing sample drilling on that plot as recent as last week so hopefully it's an indication of a start soon. It's taller than 17 floors as well I think, 22 or 23 floors rings a bel for some reason.

The architects have done a good job.... but they need to consider the impact of and integration with, a new LR stop at or near Herbert St bridge as part of Metro.

walesonline are a bit slow off the mark on this one? I've been waiting for an article where they may have info on timescales. A bit surprised that they have not covered a story for a very big development of 306,000 sq foot for 3,600 workers? would I be right in saying the biggest office development ever in wales? Hopefully people interested in such news are aware of this forum!! ;)

I would have thought that Ty Glas was probably bigger. I may be wrong and I am just guessing

now I thought Her Majesty's Retards and Cretins were looking for space for 5,000 staff so maybe we are jumping the gun a bit here. Perhaps it is the relocated whitehall civil servants we have heard about. After all, they have used a london Architect so it helps them feel more at home

Owners of Cardiff Gate business park seem to have decided to offload land to a housing developer for a development of 150 homes. Its a fairly bog standard housing development layout (outline proposal, so no detailed housing designs) with vehicular access to the site from the business park, and a pedestrian route across St Mellons Road into Pontprennau (and to the shops there). Don't think its the best located and probably doesn't lend itself to particularly good design, but fair play, the site has stood empty for over 10 years, and with attention back on the city centre (and maybe then at some point the bay), I don't see much chance of a big occupier, or spec development here. So I'd approve the scheme with some conditions on design and access.

So these https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.4525468,-3.1883704,3a,70.1y,220.42h,88.17t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sPhwRj_n0oBdi9iG6VagR1A!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 council offices in the bay have been empty the last week save a few work men. Could just be refurb I suppose but it's a fairly new building, anyone know anything?

Went over the new Windsor Road bridge on the weekend. God, it's awful. I actually think it will look better when defaced by the inevitable graffiti. I hope the Beresford Rd bridge is a bit more ambitious.

What is it with Cardiff and bridges? Umpteen bridges over the Taff,Rhymney and Ely and none to write home about. Umpteen railway bridges and pretty much all of them shit. Even Newport has a few decent bridges, including the iconic Transporter Bridge.

the only Cardiff bridge that has any sort of span is the PDR bridge over the Taff/Bay. I think we missed a trick here as this could and should have been iconic.

Canton Bridge is a decent bridge, although its quite small.
