If I just saw those images first I'd have been very happy, it's just that in my opinion they wooed us with designs that were a lot better originally. That tower in scott rd had better be good now to make up for this!!

ps. the new burger king (image: Marland Street toward Saunders Road) looks posh! bring back asteys!!

Hmm. I must admit those pictures are a lot better than the ones we saw yesterday. Perhaps I was too quick to judge.

I still prefer the old, somewhat less conservative approach, but it looks like it could turn out quite smart providing the correct materials are used. If the same care is taken with this as with No1 Central Square then I don't think we have too much to worry about.

Sorry, still looks dull to me. No interest factor whatsoever. And an above ground car park rather than an underground one. Yay.

there is no point in having a canopy if Network Rail are going to redevelop the station outward. Maybe we arent privy to the full facts and are reading too much (or is that not enough) into its omission

I'm not that much of a fan. The massing is all wrong. The equivalent of about 15 storeys then 3-4 storeys and then perhaps equivalent of 9-10 storeys again (all in residential height), moving from North to South. It will first tower over the BBC building,then be about half its height, then a bit taller again.

I don't mind it being more angular. I actually like the extra open space it creates where Saunders Road and Marland Road join. I just think parts are too tall, and parts too short. The difference in style between the resi and office element also doesn't look great given they share the same podium. Something needs to be down to break up the composition. And to fill in that bloody gap in the middle.

Is 'the gap' to have cars on the roof? this is a fair bit smaller than original as there was no such gap

Large covered area outside the station is not a good idea, considering the epidemic of homeless on the streets of Cardiff.

The council even removed the seating outside the station, because shock horror people were seating on them and smoking.

Reality/maintenance/building materials/weathering etc. don't seem to bother these artist impressions. How a development will actually end up is a completely different matter.

I must dig up some artists impressions of Cardiff developments in the planning stage and take a photo of what was finally built.
