Student tower set for green light, it's to go before planners tomorrow.

It makes sense to push for a 2018 finish, so it should be straight away.
That's potentially 3 towers going up around about the same time, Charles street, John st and this one.

wouldn't it be nice if somehow the feeder was incorporated and brought back into use.

just a little reminder of this one...

Image

I would love to see an early start for this one, at 252ft it will be just a couple of feet shorter than stadium house (without the fiddly bit on top) And as just mentioned we should then have 3 pretty *tall towers (*OK by Cardiff standards) under construction at the same time - regardless of our wait for 'Hope Tower' anything tall at Central Sq (Park St) or future offices at Cap Qtr itself. Mind you it's got to be approved tomorrow first!

Regarding the feeder, I'm sure as part of this development or the office tower planned on the main capital quarter site, there are plans for a pedestrian bridge over the feeder. Hopefully this will give an indication that it will be given a bit of a makeover - at least from the railway to Herbert Street. It's only pretty shallow here so whether something could be done a little downstream to increase depth?

There's no office tower going up at Captial Quarter. The tower going behind what will be Number 4 is apartments I think. I won't hold my breath on that either. JR Smart had planning permission for ages at the Herbert Street on a residential tower only to sell it on, what are the bets they do the same, although I hope they don't. We haven't had a new non- student homes residential tower for a while in the city centre.
