I think a two minute turn around is pushing it a bit.

I think I've seen them say they think each bus stand can accomodate about 12-15 buses an hour (so 4-5 minute turn around). I don't think all 14 will be used for Cardiff buses. I think other operators like National Express, Stagecoach, etc, will take 4. So I think that means perhaps 10 for Cardiff. So 120 - 150 buses an hour can use it.

Stoke-on-Trent, a conurbation very similar in size to Cardiff, has recently built a new bus station in its CBD, Hanley. There are two other stations in the urban area, in Longton and in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The Hanley station has 22 bays and handles a maximum of 120 buses an hour. It is very well-designed and quite beautiful for a bus station.

Whilst contemporary and not bad looking, a single storey standalone bus station building would not be appropriate for Cardiff!

I'm not suggesting that a design like this would be appropriate for Cardiff. I was merely flagging up its capacity as a way of determining how many buses Cardiff's new interchange will be able to handle. Of course, there is no funding in place yet so the capacity is a moot point. Nevertheless it is a pretty small bus station that is being planned.

so with number 1 and number 2 almost fully let, surely we must soon start seeing some activity in respect of the rest of the development?

That's great news for number 2! mind you that's a fair old hole being left in Hodge House - I wonder what will happen there?
Still from the Central Square perspective, things are looking very bright. When are we going to find out what the HMRC is going to look like, there's nothing on site (other than an unplanned swimming pool) so surely they may as well get a shift on soon for what is a pretty large development.
