No crane yet but the site is a hive of activity - I can't see the base of the crane yet either. Still there's zero doubt that this development is underway so doubtless in the not too distant we'll get our tower crane! and that's going to be some crane! I would imagine the tallest crane that this city has seen, really looking forward to that :geek: sad but true!!

The piling has taken longer than expected. Preparation for the crane base starting this week. Will be up shortly. Don't worry, this scheme will be built!

Walked past the Central square development and noticed the latest core to rise has a concrete surface unlike the others?

Tower Crane arriving today - don't know if this will be just the base or they will be constructing the whole crane? This could be our tallest tower crane since 1967?

My office overlooks the site itself on Churchill Way, and following on from conversations I have had with the site foreman over the past few weeks, this crane is going to be big!!

Would anyone be able to enlighten me as to how I can upload pictures?

Nice one! that's great we've got someone overlooking the action!! is all the crane going up now do you know?

anyway re posting photos, here is your tutorial....

The photo needs to already be 'online' ie with social media... twitter, facebook etc. or photo sharing site like flickr etc. when you right click that photo on a pc you can copy image address when you then want to post the image on here click Img above and then paste the copied image address in between the ][ in the middle.

I hope that makes sense!! :? if all else fails you can email any to me and I'll display them on your behalf.

Some more on the crane... This is going to be a pretty significant crane! (as already mentioned). Anyway it's not going to be constructed and operational in a couple of days - it's going to be constructed over a number of weeks and fully functional mid feb-ish. I got chatting to one of the men on site (very friendly and informative). If you are the type of person who is impressed by tower cranes then it looks like this one will be of great interest.

Yes it will be a big bugger, completely free standing and taller than the building itself (for clearance obviously).

They're due to pour the concrete for the base on Friday and then it'll be at least 7-8 days of curing before they can put any serious load on it.

They should start excavating the muck out to reach the bottom of the main pile cap, so they'll be breaking down the piles there soon and layer the reinforcement.
