A national disgrace, to say the least. The comments on the article perfectly sum it up.

I just can't believe how easily this disgusting metal crate got through planning. The council will have a lot to answer for when this finally goes up and completely destroys the charm of the area. Especially if the bus station itself is functionally inadequate too. Massive wasted opportunity. I can see us paying for this incompetence in the near future.

Don't worry too much it will be demolished in 20 years when space is needed for the station to expand.
So all the artist impressions of the inner space of the transport hub were just "bayscape" in the sky?

As much as I'd probably love that to happen, it'll be a bit difficult now they've added 200 private properties (with no parking because it's "sustainable") above it!

I'm quite concerned about the inner space too. The fit-out was not a part of this application. So Rightacres have had the building itself approved without any detail of the internal design. We could see another major downgrade from the original artwork purely because a building with a crap fit-out is better than a building with no fit-out at all.

Everything about this project stinks. They've let Rightacres run riot here.

its literally so bad it's offensive. They've ruined what was going to be a lovely city centre re-development. Im gonna try and write a letter to the council, i suggest you all do the same

There's an election in May. Perhaps it's an ideal time to vote against all those councillors who approved the planning. Pity we cant vote against the architects and developers who are singularly lacking in any form of aesthetic sense.

Am I missing something? I can't really tell what it's going to look like from those images.

You need to read the Design and Access Statement on the Cardiff Council website to really see what's going on. There's a reason they've made these images hard to comprehend... Even then, the architects have used very misleading views in the document, giving a false perspective of the building to flatter it - and it still looks awful anyway.

The planning reference is 16/02731/MJR. There's also been a few images posted here over the past few months.
