The rooms are going to be tiny. Unless they do some kind of Dr Who Tardis magic I'm not sure who is going to want to pay for them.

There are minimum space standards for all new London homes and recently I thought a national standard came into force, although I'm not sure if this covers Wales? These official sizes are very small but people do buy them. What choice do they have in the grand scheme of things?

Well, this is student accommodation, not homes. Effectively ensuite study bedrooms with shared facilities. This company specializes in such things so I imagine the plans are accurate and workable.

My room in Talybont was just big enough to fit a single bed and a desk in and the ensuite bathroom was no bigger than an airplane toilet. I'm sure they will manage ok.

Anyone who has ever lived at the back of Altolusso will know the issues it has. That being that the top floors get very hot and if you open the windows all you here all day long are the trains coming around the bend incredibly noisily. I can see this being an issue in this one to.

Mind you it's student accommodation.

The planning documents have been updated!
They say the tower will be 135m tall! It looks likely to be going ahead...

135m would make it not only the tallest building in Wales, but taller than any building in Birmingham and Leeds. It would be rivalled only by West Tower in Liverpool and Beetham Tower in Manchester (if we exclude London of course). It seems that Watkin Jones want to take the prestige of tallest building in Wales.

135m!! wow couldn't that be described as a skyscraper!? ok better not get too carried away yet, (I'm old enough to remember another structure once planned by the side of the Taff and one by the Ely for that matter!! and the dissapointment still lives with me! ) but at least it looks very likely that over the next couple of years our skyline will be changing and this area seems to be the chosen district for a number of tall buildings. I wonder if some kind of observation area is possible at the top? bar/restaurant! or will it be the students laundry room!!

It is exactly that, a matter of keeping our fingers crossed. This company have a number of projects on the go across the country so hopefully a bit more realistic than Seren/Glass Needle (sorry to mention the names Paul  ).

Let's hope the height doesn't get dragged down by planning and they actually get on with building it next year.
