Usually, I'm only satisfied once I'm standing on top of the full-height frame!

in fairness, watkins jones have form in delivering. Cardiff does seem to be a hive of activity with Capital Quarter, Central Square and the one (two) WJ developments...

following that we then have Brains, Dumballs Road and then maybe even Callaghan Square...

Let's just hope the economy holds up to support them all! I still have hope for John Street.

Hopefully the council and WAG get their acts together with infrastructure plans. These developments could put an almighty strain on transport.

As if the South East train system isnt strained as it is. We really need a metro going, and hopefully with that, every train in and around Cardiff having double the amount of carriages.

Well, if Capitol Shopping Centre won't provide us with some much need tower news, I will...

This one is gathering pace again! Unfortunately I'm out of the office this week, so I have to wait until I'm back, but it's looking like a start in 2017, probably in the 2nd half.

That sounds like great news - many thanks for keeping us posted! It strikes me that Watkin-Jones have a real desire to get this flagship tower constructed! How great that such an Iconic contribution to the Cardiff skyline will (hopefully) be constructed by a Welsh developer. If this does get built I would imagine it could be some time before a taller tower is constructed in Cardiff or anywhere else in Wales for that matter! From what we've seen of the Brains brewery site it's possible that a tower of pretty significant height could be constructed there - but it's early days on that one and even if the development progresses, to trump 132.5 metres would be quite something. Mind you what with JR Smart - Rightacres and Watkin-Jones we might get some skyscraper rivalry!! imagine that for Cardiff!

2nd half of 2017 is definitely better than nothing! Although multiple delays pushing the tower backwards is how all the ambitious plans go to the bin unfortunately..

Glad theres still life in this. A 132 meter tower would be huge for Cardiff in terms of media attention, inward investment and tourism.

It's not that outlandish to suggest this. A growing skyline is usually an indirect statement about the growth and success of a city (look at Dubai). Couple that with a few major global events like the Champions League Final and you've got a really good advert for an up-and-coming city. We're nowhere near Dubai levels, but the Beetham Tower in Manchester is now one of its most famous landmarks, so it can work. I do think it looks hideous though. It would look much better if it didn't have that ridiculous overhang.

Uhh, yes. All of what I said is directly linked to the economy, too. What I said isnt actually as ridiculous as you make it, especially seeing that Bridge Tower and HMRC are looking likely.
