This one seems to have slipped our notice -

http://planning.cardiff.gov.uk/online-a ... APR_110678

Outline application for 1000 homes to the east of Lisvane, called Churchlands.

I've looked at the DAS. It talks about 'garden village' principals, fitting in with Lisvane's existing built enviroment. Not a great sign - it may be posh but Lisvane looks quite shit. Also talk about a primary school and a local centre.

It's only indicative at the moment but it looks a little bit Pontprennau.

Not slipped through, we've certainly mentioned this in the past - possibly on the old forum.
There was some issue with the sale of the land which was being investigated or something...

Ha! A road running from the Rudry lane to Corpus Christi school. I can imagine that'll be used as a rat run! :)

The quiet takeover of Newport Road by the budget supermarket continues - Aldi have applied to take over the vacant Comet unit in the City Link retail park (between TGI Fridays and Mothercare)

Add that to the Range, What, B&M and Homebargains... All we're really missing is a poundland/stretcher - but there's still a few empty units so don't count that out just yet!

I had hoped they would take over the empty Kwik save site in St Mellons but that needs to be demolished and rebuilt i'd guess. Still Newport Road is ideal for us Aldi fans in the east.

That unit is actually owned by the guy who owns the What store on Newport Road - apparently going to open it as a What garden centre on the new year (definitely seen a planning app for it)

Top story from WalesOnline this morning...

Oil spillage after Cardiff city centre bus crash
Image
File photograph of the the top end of Cathedral Road in Cardiff

One of the main traffic arteries into Cardiff had to be closed in both directions this morning after a bus collided with a concrete bollard, spilling oil onto the road.

The incident happened on Cathedral Road at around 10am between the busy A4161 Cowbridge Road East and Pontcanna Street, near the Abbey Hotel.

South Wales Police attended the scene and used three bags of sand to soak up the spillage, before the reopening the road an hour later.

Are they having a laugh! File photo!! only about 1/2 mile and hundred years out
Maybe it crashed into a tram. 3 bags of sand!
I suppose there is no one in the Office this time of year and the boy it let write this stuff.
Still nice photo.

Premiere Cinemas to open in the Capitol in late February. With all tickets for shows at £4, I'll definitely venture there. Am I right in thinking there is room/was a bowling alley in the Capitol? Is there much of the Centre not being used now after the reopening of the cinema?
