Oh, and on Jack Jones: I asked a member of staff if they knew what was happening when someone reported on here several months ago that the store was closing.

They told me that JJ and Vero Moda have gone their separate ways, and that eventually all their shared stores would be separated (ours is one of the last to make the change apparently), so I imagine that there will be no Vero Moda allied to the new JJ shop.

With that in mind, does anyone know if a new Vero Moda store is likely to open anywhere - that is one place that I DO shop in!

Perhaps Vera Moda will remain in the new, reduced size store once it has been divided up.

Hamleys isn't a bad unit and I don't think that a brand as iconic as that needs a lot of window space. The problem is, there's a certain degree of excitement in visiting Hamleys in London that just isn't present in their other stores. Their other outlets just feel like generic toy shops that happen to use the Hamleys brand.

Fashion retailer H&M to open one of its biggest ever stores in the UK in Cardiff:

But on the upper level, so not affecting Hamleys.

Wonder if anyone is lined up for the Hayes facing unit? Maybe they will subdivide. Can't imagine any old shop would be able to afford this unit...

It's good for St.David's as a Hayes unit will be easier to market than the large MSU that H&M is taking plus it fills some of the masses of empty space on the first floor of the Grand Arcade.

Maybe Zara will be taking the old H&M? Would put it amongst better retailers than Queen St and their current store isn't very well laid out at all. Also I notice that they haven't really been maintaining their shopfront very well recently...

When I first heard this rumour I wasn't particularly bowled over, but on reflection I agree with Simon and in fact think it's the best move ever made at the centre. Its occupying an MSU that has been in and out of negotiation from the word go and its about time such a prominent unit is filled.

And as for their current unit, I don't think St. Davids will have any trouble filling it. The Hayes is evidently an in-demand store location, so this could be very exciting. I like the thought of Zara taking that unit. Zara would really suit the size and location, plus the Queen Street store is so run down, it' s slightly embarrassing. Zara are spending so much money on their UK stores right now (Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham) however the Cardiff store hasn't been touched since opening.

Good news this one!

It will be located on the Upper Level of the Grand Arcade. In between Mothercare and New Look

Vero Moda appears to be on its way out - there are closing down signs on the windows and there's hardly any stock left in store.

Jack Jones, on the other hand, is still fully stocked and appears to be operating as usual.

Just in case anyone other than me is interested ....
