Coffee No I are opening an outlet on the ground floor of the Principlaity building (new one) in the Friary. I thought that was a replacement for the Wood Street branch which will go when Marland House is destroyed just weeks from now.
I can't see a Coffee No 1 (or any coffee shop) working there. Not much footfall. Callaghan Square is around the corner I suppose but thats about it. Also it's a grade 2 listed building - can Brains be arsed getting all the consents, sensitively refurbing etc when they can pick and choose any number of empty units in the city centre where they will have carte blanche to do what they want?
In other news the Flora is having a six figure makeover. It's going to be shabby chic. FFS. When will there be a trend for Victorian era street corner boozers? Brass fittings, wood pannelled bars, etched glass, tiled floors? God knows what a shabby chic makeover will result in. A sub-Juno Lounge abortion most probably.
